PEDIATRICS

Before returning to your room following childbirth, you will you will remain in the delivery room with your baby for about two hours under the supervision of the delivery room medical and paramedical team.

After childbirth, your and your baby’s medical supervision is handled by the pediatrician and the midwife along with an experienced assistant nurse. This team is entrusted with:

  • Monitoring your and your baby’s overall health
  • Providing you with guidance with regard to breastfeeding decisions
  • Providing you with post-childbirth information: uterus return to normal size, temporary inconvenience due to the episiotomy, resumption of menses (i.e. when your period returns after childbirth)
  • Helping you through all these moments
  • Providing you with advice on adequate contraception if you so wish.

Your baby will stay in an incubator for two hours after birth in order to warm up properly and will be given a bath when they are six hours old in order to allow enough time for them to be warm and facilitate breastfeeding as soon as possible after birth.
