The Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at NDS provides care for mothers and their newborns. Its Level III maternity department also helps to provide care for high-risk and/or pathological pregnancies (high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, multiple gestation, etc.), as well as newborns presenting with severe conditions.

The department is endowed with several missions:

  • Level III maternity mission
  • Childbirth preparation (by midwives)
  • Promotion of and preparation for breastfeeding (by midwives)
  • Psychological support for couples
  • Prenatal and post-partum rehabilitation (by midwives and a physiotherapist)
  • Free-of-charge psychological support for the mothers of premature babies or intrauterine fetal death (IUFD)
  • Oncology care
  • Care in gynecological emergencies and medical/surgical gynecology.

Its activities:


  • Level III maternity with 1,100 births per year (C-sections included)
  • High-risk pregnancy care
  • Obstetrical emergencies at all pregnancy terms


  • Gynecological emergencies
  • Cancer pathologies (cervical, uterus, ovarian, breast)
  • Vaginal pathologies (prolapse, etc.)
  • Benign pathologies (Coelio- laparo- vaginal)
