GENERAL SURGERY

The Surgery Department is open 24/7 and welcomes outpatient, hospitalized or postoperative patients with care provided by a team composed of surgeons, a head nurse, nurses and orderlies, residents, interns and two medical secretaries. Efficient support is also offered by a team of highly-efficient psychologists and dietitians who follow up on patients who undergo surgery.

Furthermore, we offer a high-performance ambulatory surgery department.

The department operates in close collaboration with other specialized hospital departments, such as gastroenterology, oncology, resuscitation, continuing care and ER.

Patients may be admitted based on a pre-surgery consultation or as an emergency through the ER or following a direct consultation with the surgeon.

The main activities of the department:

GI surgery (esophagus, stomach, pancreas, spleen, liver, gall bladder, colon, and rectum)

  • General surgery (abdominal wall, hernia, thyroid, varicose veins, etc.)
  • Liver surgery
  • Cancer surgery
  • Colorectal surgery (abscess, anal fissure, anal fistula, hemorrhoids, etc.)
  • Coelioscopic surgery (hernia, hiatal hernia, gallbladder, colon, appendix, spleen, etc.)
  • Coelioscopy before bariatric surgery (sleeve gastrectomy, bypass, multidisciplinary care)

Scientific activities:

The Surgery Department provides training to non-resident students as well as to USEK interns and residents through twice-daily rounds and visits to the OR and outpatients.

Conference sessions (for the general surgery staff) are held each Monday at 1:30 p.m., in addition to multidisciplinary consultation meetings for cancer cases.
