PEDIATRICS

The Pediatrics Department welcomes newborns and children of up to 15 years of age who suffer from any medical or surgical pathology. The aim of the department is to foster children’s speedy recovery and their harmonious psychomotor development.

Children initially welcomed in the ER are subsequently oriented to our Pediatrics Department after having ruled out any pathology requiring an admission to the ICU. Hospitalization may also be programmed by the attending physician and patients sent as private practice referrals.

Once they are admitted to the department, children are taken care of by a multidisciplinary team, including a pediatrician, a resident, an intern, nurses, pediatric nurses, auxiliaries and psychologists as needed.

A supervisor in charge remains open to the various issues and oversees the work of nursing staff members.

The department allows one of the parents to remain with their children day and night. Its aim is to foster children’s speedy recovery and harmonious psychomotor development. Sibling visits are allowed on a case-by-case basis during visiting hours.

The NDS Pediatrics Department is affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. It welcomes trainee non-resident students and general medicine interns and provides four years of training to residents specializing in pediatrics.

The department welcomes cases dealing with general pediatrics and several specific pediatric activities: hematology/oncology, nephrology, pulmonology, neurology, gastroenterology, gynecology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, and pediatric surgery.
