CARDIOLOGY

Cardiac Electrophysiology comprises the different steps for diagnosis and management of various cardiac arrhythmias. Dysfunctions of the cardiac electrophysiology system may range from a simple abnormality with no clinical consequence to potentially critical condition that may lead to syncope or sudden cardiac arrest. The Arrhythmia unit equipment and procedures (Tilt test, Holter, EP studies and ablations, implantable devices, etc.) allow the Arrhythmia specialists to diagnose and implement appropriate therapy on a case-by-case basis. Management may consist of simple monitoring, medical therapy, catheter or device-based therapy (Pacemaker or Defibrillator). The type and timing of the therapy to be implemented-if required- are decided according to the clinical context.
