The Radiotherapy Division at NDS was established in 1985 and is an integral part of the Lebanese Cancer Center, which provides chemotherapy and radiation treatment. It was the second such department to be established in Lebanon following the Department of Radiation Oncology at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC).
Ever since then, the division has provided thousands of patients with curative and palliative treatment. It is staffed by two radiation oncologists, medical physicists, four technicians and a secretary.
A new center was built in 2004 and equipped with a linear accelerator and a cutting-edge planning system, providing radiation treatment in accordance with international standards.
The center offers treatment to 400 patients suffering from various illnesses every year and care is provided, in general, by a multidisciplinary team.
