    NDS is a non-profit teaching hospital with a Christian vocation, which is committed to providing the community with the best health and support services to the benefit of patients and their loved ones by adopting established international standards in terms of care, training, and research.

    NDS aims to become in 2022 the reference healthcare facility in Lebanon and the region, one that enjoys a spotless scientific, academic and ethical reputation. 

Historical

  • 1950

    Established in 1950 in the heart of Byblos as a member of the Lebanese Maronite Order (OLM), NDS was merely an 18-bed clinic aiming to provide patients with primary medical care before their transfer to other hospitals located mainly in Beirut. 

  • 1977

    It is only in 1977 that it became a 75-bed general hospital built on land owned by the Notre Dame des Secours Monastery in Byblos along the road leading to the Saint Maron Monastery in Annaya, known as the Saint Charbel road. 

  • 2007

    On May 31, 2007, the Ministry of Public Health issued Ministerial Decision n° 358/1, which classified the hospital in the category of teaching hospitals governed by Decree n° 536/1, dated 14/8/2001. NDS is nowadays a major university medical center composed of seven blocks with a 275-bed capacity.
