The Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at NDS provides care for mothers and their newborns. Its Level III maternity department also helps to provide care for high-risk and/or pathological pregnancies (high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, multiple gestation, etc.), as well as newborns presenting with severe conditions.
The department is endowed with several missions:
- Level III maternity mission
- Childbirth preparation (by midwives)
- Promotion of and preparation for breastfeeding (by midwives)
- Psychological support for couples
- Prenatal and post-partum rehabilitation (by midwives and a physiotherapist)
- Free-of-charge psychological support for the mothers of premature babies or intrauterine fetal death (IUFD)
- Oncology care
- Care in gynecological emergencies and medical/surgical gynecology.
Its activities:
1.Obstetrics:
- Level III maternity with 1,100 births per year (C-sections included)
- High-risk pregnancy care
- Obstetrical emergencies at all pregnancy terms
2.Gynecology:
- Gynecological emergencies
- Cancer pathologies (cervical, uterus, ovarian, breast)
- Vaginal pathologies (prolapse, etc.)
- Benign pathologies (Coelio- laparo- vaginal)
